Futile musings of an old ghost

Living Flame of Radiant God 51

Daily writing prompt
What quality do you value most in a friend?

the living flame of God.

“There is only one force in this world capable of conquering the loneliness of man, and that force is love. There is only one possible way emerging from the dust of life and resisting its world wind, and that is spiritual life. And so true friendship is a spiritual love uniting people, and spiritual love is the living flame of God. He who does not know the flame of God and has never experienced it will not understand true friendship, nor will ever understand loyalty and true sacrifice. That is why only people of the spirit are capable of true friendship.” (Ivan Ilyin)

We are people of the spirit

So, what I value most is the living spirit in you: what unites us, what makes us part of God’s flock, what makes us confident and trustful. As you know, I love you, our friendship means closeness and intimacy I cannot do without. I know we are prepared to sacrifice anything to preserve our friendship, our love. We are people of the spirit, body and soul.

This make us part of a happy section of mankind: we are dust-free. We are free to love, and teach each other, our time is ours, our minds and hearts are open to one another. Such is life that we now have to ask ourselves those other important, unavoidable, questions.

We are seeking to find a path

“Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.” (Berean Bible)

We are seeking to find a path, the way forward to peace in a time of struggle, as we understand that this does not only depends on us, and those like us. We have to face evil, in those situations when resistance is necessary. We have to understand, and help each other, in looking at the risks, to our families, to our children and their children.

“If the heart has grown cold, then the person is half-dead; he will not be able to challenge the dust. And so the crisis of the modern world is the crisis of the deadened heart and the rising of the dust.”

My sweet and beloved friend, we are not alone, we walk together with our companions, guided by our Creator.
