Daily writing prompt
What do you think gets better with age?

Laziness is a big word

“Laziness is a big word, isn’t?” I say, softly, as the green eyes observe me, smiling, the legs well up on the desk, allowing me a refreshing look at her underwear. “Yes, and some things do get better with time…” she replies. I reflect, wanting her to continue. “Let’s talk about sex, for example, now you can go on all night, taking your time, enjoying foreplay as never before, and staying in for as long as I wish… Most agreeable, even if not the same as the old cavalry charge!” We laugh, I am discreetly happy about the way this is going. She continues:

“Besides, you give me all the time in the world too, to get ready, to stall, to ask for something special, and you oblige. You enjoy my lips as ever before, perhaps more so. The perfect, civilised lover. By the way, you know also how to worship my clit without fuss, I say no more… But there are also other things!”

The perfect, civilised lover

I offer to make her a drink, it will be orange and soda, a scotch on ice for myself.

“For example, money. You get more and more generous, and relaxed about it, as you grow on years. And you let me free to go out and spend! What could a girl ask for? I have the freedom of the car (and what a car!) you are not concerned about where I go and for how long. I think you know now how to make a girl very happy. I must add that I am happy you no longer seem too interested in exploring things with my friends: some of them have almost complained to me that you no longer give them any attention! Are you teasing them?”

Money and calories

I think about her question, and then say: “To be frank I have energy for you, my dear love, not for them, however pleasant to look at they may be!” Explosion of laughter. “Are you that lazy? Occasionally I’d like you to go out a bit more, you know, visit the old boys, or your grand children, or museum, or… but I don’t insist on this, because here you are always useful, I can call on you for chores, and this makes life easier as well.

You don’t insist in getting me to bed as early as you, which is nice, I can watch films, and go and smoke pot in the garden, without bothering you. You are such a sweetie in your old(er) age!”

the lady makes her move

I am not so sure about the last bit. The legs are now down, the lady makes her move to kiss me on the lips and pull on you know what gently, and then disappear upstairs. I am still meditating on what gets better. From my angle, I believe I have improved on my writing, though slowly. I still read a lot, in fact more so than ever, since I have more time. I continue to take pics, am even considering an upgrade on my camera. However, as the lady said, I am not so keen on travel anymore. Is this laziness, or genuine lack of energy?

Conclusion

In conclusion, as I reflect upon what improves with age, I find myself marvelling at the progress I have made in my writing, albeit at a leisurely (lazy?) pace. The luxury of time has allowed me to indulge in more reading than ever before, expanding my horizons with each turn of the page. I have even contemplated upgrading my trusty camera, for my passion for photography remains unwavering.

However, I must confess, my wanderlust seems to have dwindled, leaving me to ponder if it is simply laziness or a genuine lack of energy. Ah, the mysteries of aging! But fret not, for with each passing year, there is always something new to discover, even if it’s the unexpected joy of embracing our ever-evolving selves.
