Futile musings of an old ghost

I did it!

Bloganuary writing prompt
What’s your dream job?

I ‘d asked my question several minutes past, so so it seemed. The old fellow was puffing on his pipe, philosophically, then he said:

“When I was a lad , still at school, I wanted to be an officer. Somehow, I saw this as the goal to attain, the way to be someone, to become the equal of the best. And, you know, it took me a while, and when it happened, which was hard work, the world, momentarily, seemed to run out of wars. It did not last, mind you, but by then, I was far and away.

At that time, the dream job for me was to be an engineer, someone who worked out how to make wonderful things… like… like, well it was the time of inertial navigation, before those satellites, and after some years, I was working on that stuff, I think it was when the Americans landed on the moon, exciting time…

But then I met that girl, bless her, and we needed money, so, I thought, let’s go into “phynance” and do something smart… And it worked! I made money, not for very long, mind you, and it was long hours, and like, well not that exciting, rather depressing…

So, you, see, I had several of those…”

I thought for a little while, then I asked him:

“And what do you do now? Are you on your next dream job?”

“Absolutely, and I love it! I write stories! It’s lovely, unpredictable, and it keeps my spirits up! Write, and read stories, read what other folks dream of. Meet some fantastic people, bloggers are! Full of ideas… and never stop dreaming!”
