Futile musings of an old ghost

March 10 2012

An important year

2012 was an important year for us, and especially March 10. It is on that beautiful day, sunny, luminous and fresh, that we got married. Together since 1985, we decided to make changes in our lives. We planned a holiday in the Dolomites, and later a visit to Berlin. I was starting new projects, the blog, of Glass and Paper, a novel, that became The Page, and other undertakings.

Fate

But things did not turn out the way we hoped. The holiday in the Tyrol led to a health crisis that revealed I was seriously ill. This put a brake to our plans for two years. We had to adapt quickly to the new situation, frequent visits to hospital, compensating for our forced retreat with our imaginations. I continued writing, and pursued a new trail for the novel, inspired by Andromeda, as shown by the post of 15 March. Andromeda led me to think of the Coven, a small town in Champagne, and as my wife said, an old flame from my youth.

Today

Today is not so sunny, there is even a little rain, not uncommon in the English Spring. The world has changed dramatically since 2012, we hope for the best, although this is not always apparent. I am now writing book 2 of The Page: a different story that attempts to look at an alternative reality. In a couple of days we will be back to Berlin for a short visit, not without some apprehension, for me.

And, perhaps, the location will help Sarah refresh her memories…
