Sport & Frugal Longevity 26

Bloganuary writing prompt
What are your favorite sports to watch and play?

Sport

“I do not watch much sport”, she said, “but, as you know, I practise, or have practised, several, and some I follow. For example Judo, though much has changed since I took my first lessons in the old dojo. I paid a visit to the Kodokan once, some twenty years ago, memorable. Serious Alpinism, I had to give up, in the end, the legs were no longer up to it. And of course I run still… And a bit of tennis, from time to time.”

Frugal

She laughed. My grandmother is forever young at heart. She has led a frugal life from the start, and, while my grand father was alive, they shared the same belief in sport, and frugality.

About longevity

“Longevity-and sanity. Eccentric old ladies on Harleys I can deal with.”
― Alison Larkin, The English American

“It’s not too late. Some of your very best memories haven’t even happened yet.”
― Eleanor Brownn, The Other Serenity Prayer: Meditations on Self-Kindness

“We cannot count on seeing our work completed here below, and happy is the man whose will is not too painfully invested in his efforts. No house is built, no plan created, in which ruin is not the cornerstone, and what lives imperishably in us does not reside in our works.”
― Ernst Jünger, On the Marble Cliffs

“Nikola Tesla seemed quite normal as a kid. He developed a lot of phobias as an adult. Some were rational, as it was a time of disease, like now. Others were bizarre! He probably would have had a Dementia diagnosis later in life. He died of heart disease at a really old age (died age 81)! He is one of the longest lived scientists of his time. He is the only scientist of the time I am aware of that had studied nutrition and placed himself on a natural foods diet. Hertz (died age 36) and Maxwell (died age 48) did not live anywhere near as long as him.”
