It was early morning. I was completing the ritual 5k run around the campus, breathing deep the cold air of these northern parts. I was now close to our quarters, slowing down before approaching the fixed bar, and doing the equally ritual 50 pull-ups. My adjutant, Maria, stood at the door, smiling, in work fatigues, having just completed her own morning training. We saluted politely, then exchanged a chaste kiss on the lips.
“I am starving” she said smiling, “what snack would you eat right now?”
“Well, I have several consecutive answers to this question, adjutant Kolinsky!” I replied.
We disappeared in the warmer building, laughing.
